Don't let your CPAGS membership be limited to a line on your C.V. Make the most of your CPAGS membership by becoming involved. You'll be surprised how rewarding it is to meet students outside your school, network with professionals (and clinical directors!), learn how the CPA advocates on behalf of your profession, and join the collective voice of students at the state level. As students, we know how busy it gets with coursework, clinical training, and dissertation, but starting to network as a student pays off BIG in the long run.
Your career doesn't start after graduation, IT STARTS NOW!
Attend an event
Attending a CPA or CPAGS event is the absolute best way to get connected to other students and mentors in the field. Besides being actively involved in the annual CPA Convention and CPA Leadership and Advocacy Day, CPAGS also hosts two events of our own: the Student Leadership and Advocacy Conference and the Cross Cultural Conference.
Take a leadership position
It takes a lot of work to host events and represent psychology students in California. Contribute to the effort, get great experience for your C.V., and network with leaders in the CPA by joining a committee, running for a position on the CPAGS Executive Council, or becoming a CPAGS rep on your campus. Whether you can spare a couple hours a week or only a couple hours a month, your time benefits CPAGS, students all over California, and your own professional development.

Join a CPA Division
Student participation in divisions offers opportunities to meet other students and professionals who have similar interests. Passionate about neuropsych? Division VIII is for you! Devoted to social justice? Check out Division VII. You can contact the CPAGS representative for the division you're interested in to see how you can become involved.
