2018 Convention - Call for Proposals

CPA 2018 Convention

Looking Forward:
Innovations and Opportunities for Practice

(including a featured track on Psychology in the Digital Age)

 April 26-29, 2018

Hyatt Regency La Jolla at Aventine

La Jolla, CA

We have broadened the theme of the convention to allow for a wider range of proposals.

The practice of psychology is constantly evolving, with therapeutic techniques that range from well-established practices to those that integrate these practices with new technology that is increasingly influencing our society.

We invite you to share your research and clinical experience in working with children, adolescents, adults, and organizations. Our goal is to provide practical, skill building opportunities for conference attendees.

We also invite proposals for a featured track on “Psychology in the Digital Age” and invite you to share your experience if you are using technology to save time and money, and to bring innovations to your practice that are exciting to you and that enhance your work with patients.

When preparing your proposal:

(1)      Please notice the theme of the convention: We invite you to share your expertise and successes in working with children, adolescents, adults and organizations. A majority of our programming will feature practical, skill building opportunities for conference attendees.

(2)      Featured track proposals: Our featured track “Psychology in the Digital Age proposals should illustrate the effective integration of research and practice, and that provide attendees with new skills as we all find the best ways to integrate new and useful technologies in our work.

(3)     We are looking for thought leaders who have significant expertise and experience to share.  Please plan to present your information in an interactive format that will engage your audience in a meaningful way.  Our attendees do not appreciate a presentation heavily dependent on lecture and PowerPoint slides, so please keep that in mind. They do appreciate information that is current, thought-provoking and engaging.

(4)     Consider how you will demonstrate how your presentation can be applied; think in terms of what the attendees will walk away with that they can use with their patients, students, or in their work setting.  If you present research, think about how that research might influence practice.  If you are using technology in an innovative way in your own practice or work, think about how your experience might be useful to your colleagues.

Important Note:  We will have poster sessions (with a later proposal deadline) that are best suited for research presentations by students and faculty (e.g. dissertation research).

All presenters must register for the convention.  We do offer a discounted registration fee for presenters.

Firm Deadline for proposals:  September 18, 2017

Late or incomplete proposals will not be reviewed.
